Geographical Open Data Kit

Geo-Open Data Kit (GeoODK) is a freely available, open source software that allows users to collect and store georeferenced data, as well as a suite of tools to visualise, analyse and manipulate ground-data.

GeoODK has three main components:

1. A mobile data-collection app allowing users to collect different kinds of data (qualitative or quantitative) and to link these with spatial data.

2. A custom built data-analysis software available online through Formhub, to which users can upload data and analyse it quickly.

3. The ‘Mobile Data Converter’ which is a downloadable tool that simplifies the process of converting the data collected by users into formats that can be viewed and manipulated in ArcGIS and other software.

A short tutorial is available on the website that guide users through the different steps of using GeoODK. There is also a large online community for support in using GeoODK’s Formhub for data analysis.
