Community forestry and REDD+ in Asia: lessons learned and ways forward - issues brief

This issues brief emphaises the need for REDD+ to learn from decades of experience of community forest management. It presents a summary of the key points from Asian experiences, taken from a longer report published by the Forest Carbon, Markets and Communities Programme. It highlights lessons and recommendations for REDD+ around issues of empowerment (especially effective land rights), governance and stakeholder engagement, benefits and incentives, capacity building, scaling up and sustainability.
