This is a short address by the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity, in support of community-based monitoring and information systems. It highlights some key messages relating to community-based monitoring and calls attention to document UNEP/CBD/WG8J/8/9 on Indicators Relevant for Traditional Knowledge and Customary Sustainable Use.

The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity gave this address to the Chair of the Working Group on CBD Article 8j (Traditional Knowledge, Innovations and Practices) following a meeting held at the 17th session of the CBD Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) in Montreal, Canada, in October 2013.
