This report from the WWF REDD+ for People and Nature initiative describes their work in the Maï-Ndombe province of DRC. It shows how their early actions on REDD+ Readiness developed, from a community capacity building project, to using participatory mapping to create community-level land use plans. These plans clarify customary boundaries, show the areas of forest to be protected for REDD+ payments, and set out sustainable livelihood activities. WWF also developed processes and methodologies for free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) and Community Measurement, Reporting and Verification of REDD+ actions. Much of this has since been scaled up and integrated into jurisdictional REDD+ in the province.
