Safeguarding forests and people: a framework for designing a national system to implement REDD+ safeguards

Safeguards are needed to ensure that REDD+ programmes do not harm forest communities or and ecosystems. A framework for developing national safeguard systems helps countries to navigate different challenges and opportunities. This report uses examples from Mexico, Brazil and Indonesia and international comparisons to develop a ptoential framework that countries could use to anticipate, plan, manage, monitor and respond to REDD+ activities and problems.
