Brazilian Biodiversity Fund
A nonprofit civil association founded in October 1995. Its overall objective is to complement governmental action to conserve and sustainably use the country's biological diversity, and its specific goal is to operate a fund that provides financial and material support to initiatives related to conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity resources in Brazil.
Funbio was responsible for the design of the Suruí Carbon Fund which is intended to carbon finance to support implementation of the management plan for the Sete de Setembro indigenous territory. Funbio provides capacity building for the Suruí in the management of the Fund and in the contracts for the sale of carbon credits on the voluntary market.
