The Monitoring Matters Network is an international network of researchers and practitioners working with innovative approaches to monitoring of natural resources, livelihoods and governance. The network’s research focuses on monitoring in relation to:
- Ecosystem goods and services
- Adaptive management of natural resources
- Climate change mitigation and resilienc
- Governance and social benefits of natural resource management.
In terms of the final topic, of governancae and social benefits, the network looks at how community members can undertake their own monitoring of representation, accountability and transparency in natural resource governance. It also researches the options for employing existing participatory monitoring methods in measuring the de facto social benefits of natural resource management for local stakeholders. The website provides links to a selection of locally-based monitoring schemes, research initiatives and a list of useful publications.
